Development of University Infrastructure utilizing Online Technology

Against the additionality of Rs.153 crore received during the previous financial year for higher education sector under the NCMP, a sum of Rs.130.36 crore has been released to Aligarh Muslim University, Jamia Milia Islamia, universities located in North-East and Metro Universities mainly for the development of infrastructure.

Ensuring Transparency
Steps are being taken to bring about transparency in the functioning of the accrediting and affiliating bodies, including AICTE, UGC, CBSE and NCTE, by ensuring time frames for various approvals and also by making the receipt and processing of applications online. Several steps have also been suggested for reducing the chances of human bias. This is also one of the important thrust areas indicated for the Ministry of HRD by the Prime Minister.

A proposal is also under consideration on setting up an Education Call Centre from where it could be possible to provide information on all aspects of the education sector from a single point. The modalities of the linkages, updating of the material online, routing to the different helplines, etc., are being worked out.

Education encompasses diverse sectors/areas needing careful planning and handling of the various issues. Despite the impressive strides in the field of education since Independence, and the substantial progress in literacy levels, and in the spread of educational institutions, the goal of universalisation of elementary education is yet to be realised. While the Government is committed to the educational upliftment of the masses and ensuring access and quality of education at all levels, determined, collective, and sustained efforts from both the Central and State Governments would be essential to realise the dream of making India an educationally developed nation.
