What is railway auto policy?

Railways has some kind of Auto Policy. What is it? I am interested in details of Railways Automobiles policy and its shape. Which industry, which company will get benefit from railway auto policy? What will be the size of a venture to avail or participate in Railways Automobiles policy related service or similar. In order to increase the share of railways in automobile traffic, a policy on Automobile Freight Train Operator (AFTO) Scheme has been formulated.

The Railway Automobiles policy aims at encouraging the development of new business models and partnerships with the private sector. The Railways department plans to increase its share in the area of transportation of automobiles, as this sector is one of the fastest growing sectors in the country. The automobiles industry will benefit because of this policy as manufacturers will be able to increase distribution through enhanced movement of bulk traffic from manufacturing centres to consumers. The size of a venture that qualifies for participation is a minimum Rs.30 crore
